La Barceloneta is a neighborhood of Barcelona’s old town, the district of Ciutat Vella. This neighborhood settled following the land gained after the breakwater port in 1474 that was generating a sedimentation land from the Besos river. If you have a look at the situation in the neighborhood from satellite view (with google maps, for example), you can clearly see that their situation reveals that it is an artificial area.
It is difficult to talk about the Barceloneta without mentioning its restaurants for tapas and paella. Except the typical tourist places, in this neighborhood you can find great restaurants that the locals go themselves, in addition to tapas and paella it offers also Catalan home cooking.
